It seems hard to find organized disability information, especially about legal and access issues. I have done good in getting medial help and wheelchairs. My biggest problem is business who have steps and no ramps or other access for my electric wheelchair. I actually built some wooden ramps to go up a curb, like at the local ice-cream stand. (I do not want to spend my life making formal complaints, it seems like it would be a full time job!)

Fab site. After an appeal for DLA i was awarded low mobility component. The Benefit agency stopped it last year and said I could not appeal against their final decision which has still not been made. There is no time limit on how long it will take to sort it out and they will not look at another application until they decide on the first. Does anyone have any tips or advice. I have traumatic spondylolisthesis, flatback syndrome, emphysema, and post traumatic stress disorder. my GP and consultants support my application. Please can anyone offer advice.

It seems that everytime I read another sufferer's agonizing story, I shed more tears and feel my heart aching more and more! The pain that I feel physically with my respiratory condition and for the sorrow and grief of losing half my sick family to lung cancer and the agonizing sorrow for other sufferers who share my pain seems endless! I wonder when this pain will end. There are no words to begin to describe the horrible ache in my heart and soul for the incredible loss I've experienced from this nasty smoking habit. There are no words and my heart goes out to all the countless other sufferers who are sick from exposure to secondhand smoke and from the grief of losing their own loved ones! Let's keep up the fight and keep up the great important work! We MUST protect children from this nasty heinous poison known as environmental tobacco smoke! Children should be protected and loved, not hurt and poisoned! I love you all!

Peace and Harmony,
D.A.

I have been physically disabled since 1979 due to a motorcycl accident and I felt alone and isolated, without a friend, which is the way many disabled people feel, myself and a friend started "The Link" which now Mushroomed into
"Link-N-Friends" www.linknfriends.org It started out being a Social Group, but has since flowered into what you see on the Web Page. The Link got it's start while Scott Fetters and I were members of BFA, but BFA (Barrirer Free America)had an inaccessible office and Link-N-Friends has many wheelchair bound members and are expecting more.

I was surfing the internet for sites which have chatrooms for my deaf without speech nephew. I feel so sorry for him not having any friends. He is at that stage of life where he does need a companion.
My nephew is very good looking and intelligent. He has another disability which is not knowing the language of the deaf very well. Where he comes from there were no schools there. He came to the UK at a very late stage of his age, which he found very hard to adapt to.
I would like him to meet someone who is honest, nice and would be faithful to him. The only disability in his life is his deafness.
I would like to hear from anyone who is interested in being friends with my nephew. He is 27 years of age.

Thank you in anticipation
